This role focuses on the remote programming and configuration of advanced fire alarm systems used in commercial and industrial building environments. You will translate engineering designs, construction documents, and technical specifications into fully functional system programs that ensure life safety compliance and operational reliability. Working closely with design teams, field technicians, and local offices, you will play a key role in ensuring fire alarm systems are accurately built, tested, and deployed. The position requires strong technical interpretation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a highly collaborative virtual environment. You will support critical building safety infrastructure while applying industry standards such as NFPA to complex system configurations. This is a hands-on technical role with real-world impact on safety, compliance, and building performance.
- Develop and program complete fire alarm system configurations based on construction drawings, specifications, and approved design documentation.
- Interpret technical documents and apply relevant NFPA standards to ensure compliant and accurate system programming.
- Coordinate with design teams, local offices, and contracting teams to obtain required files, updates, and project requirements.
- Collaborate with remote programming teams in a virtual environment to ensure consistency in processes and execution.
- Support installation teams by troubleshooting programming issues during system deployment and commissioning.
- Upload completed programming files to shared platforms and ensure proper delivery to field technicians and local offices.
- Maintain strong communication and working relationships across distributed teams to ensure timely project completion.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Simplex fire alarm technician or system programmer.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Solid understanding and practical application of NFPA standards related to fire alarm systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools, including Excel, and fire alarm programming software (Simplex systems preferred).
- Experience working in structured, project-based environments with multiple concurrent priorities.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to support field teams during system installation and activation.
- NICET Level II or III certification preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote, cross-functional team environment.
- Hourly compensation ranging from 36 to 48 USD, depending on experience and qualifications.
