Animal Care Attendant – Job Description
Job Summary:
The Animal Care Attendant ensures the health, safety, and well-being of animals in the store by providing daily care, monitoring health, and educating customers about responsible pet ownership. This role demonstrates positivity, eagerness to learn, teamwork, and accountability in all aspects of animal and customer care.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Feeds, waters, and cares for animals daily.
- Cleans and sanitizes cages, tanks, and habitats.
- Monitors animal health and behavior, reporting concerns promptly.
- Provides handling assistance and educates customers on pet care needs.
- Works with teammates to ensure consistent and compassionate animal care.
- Ensures compliance with company policies and animal welfare regulations.
- Assists with receiving, housing, and acclimating new animals.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Compassion for animals and positivity toward people and pets.
- Strong attention to detail and accountability in following care routines.
- Eager to learn about species-specific needs and care standards.
- Team-oriented with strong communication and customer service skills.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience with animal care a plus.
- Training provided on store protocols and species-specific needs.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and bending.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- May require handling of live animals, including reptiles, birds, and small mammals.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
