Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fleet Mechanic to join our team. The Fleet Mechanic is integral to maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy machinery, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Reporting to the Fleet Manager, needs core skills in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and vehicle maintenance will be essential. The fleet mechanic team keeps our fleet running and minimizes business/work interruptions by performing shop-based preventative maintenance and repairs for light medium, and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, shotcrete rigs, forklifts, heavy equipment. Complete set of hand tools and rollaround cabinet necessary for hiring. The ideal candidate should have experience working with heavy equipment, heavy trucks, medium and light-duty trucks, and small engines.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles, trailers, heavy equipment and construction machinery including but not limited to concrete shooters, water trucks.

• Perform adjustment and repairs on various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.

• Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.

• Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.

• Perform DOT inspections on trucks and trailers.

• Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.

• Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections of vehicle.

• Manage concurrent assigned tasks, making effective judgments as to prioritizing work related activities and time allocations.

• Use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when performing tasks such as grinding, cutting, sanding, welding, or using compressed air.

• Maintain accurate records of daily work and complete work order paperwork every day.

• Must use/bring personal hand tools, precision instruments, as well as Diesel tools, welding equipment.

• Accurately complete forms and all other documentation in a timely fashion.

• Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.

• Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers and/or discuss RO findings notes.

• Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, including OSHA and DOT requirements.

• Operates shop equipment including but not limited to cranes, welders, compressors, presses, grinders, heavy hand tools and tire servicing equipment.

• Lifts, moves and/or installs heavy parts and assembles safely.

• Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe working area.

• Performs other duties as assigned by Manager.

Experience and Skills Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in automotive repair preferred.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in fleet maintenance.

• 3+ experience working on gas and diesel engines - required

• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, electrical components, and transmission systems.

• Experience working with a variety of vehicles, including light and heavy-duty trucks, service vans, and specialized construction equipment.

• Provide your own set of hand tools – required

• Working knowledge on operating and repair characteristics of hydraulic systems.

• Strong knowledge of vehicle diagnostic tools, repair manuals, and maintenance software.

• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

• Strong mechanical knowledge, including the ability to align vehicles and perform welding tasks.

• Must be able to work from the fleet shop and travel on occasion based on business need.

Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift

• Monday to Friday
