We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to lead nursing operations at our Williamson, West Virginia facility. This role is ideal for a confident clinical leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, values structure and accountability, and is passionate about delivering high-quality, trauma-informed care.

Position Overview

The Director of Nursing oversees day-to-day nursing operations, ensuring safe medication management, strong clinical oversight, and compliance with state regulations, Joint Commission standards, and internal policies. This role serves as a key member of the leadership team and works closely with medical providers, clinical leadership, and operations to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesClinical & Nursing Leadership
  • Provide direct supervision, guidance, and support to RNs, LPNs, and PRN nursing staff.

  • Ensure appropriate staffing coverage, scheduling, and shift accountability.

  • Serve as the clinical escalation point for nursing issues, patient acuity, and safety concerns.

Medication & Medical Oversight
  • Oversee medication administration, medication passes, and controlled substance management.

  • Ensure compliance with physician orders, MAT protocols, CIWA/COWS monitoring, and detox standards.

  • Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners and Medical Providers regarding changes in patient condition and care plans.

Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure nursing practices comply with West Virginia licensing requirements, Joint Commission standards, and ARS policies.

  • Conduct chart audits and nursing documentation reviews for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

  • Participate in incident reporting, investigations, and quality improvement initiatives.

Training & Development
  • Support onboarding, training, and competency validation for nursing staff.

  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action as needed.

  • Promote trauma-informed care, professional boundaries, and ethical nursing practice.

Collaboration & Communication
  • Partner with Clinical, Admissions, Recovery Support, and Operations teams to ensure coordinated patient care.

  • Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to continuous program improvement.

  • Foster a calm, professional, and patient-centered environment.

QualificationsRequired
  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of West Virginia.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of nursing experience, including 1–2 years in a supervisory or charge role.

  • Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, detox, or inpatient healthcare strongly preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of medication administration, detox protocols, and nursing documentation standards.

Preferred
  • Experience in residential or inpatient SUD treatment settings.

  • Familiarity with Joint Commission standards and healthcare compliance requirements.

  • Leadership experience in 24/7 clinical environments.

Work Conditions

Compensation & Benefits

The base compensation range for this position is $80,000-$95,000
This range reflects Ascension Recovery Services’ good faith estimate at the time of posting. Placement within the range will be based on experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity.
