Shop and Hydro-Vac Swamper

Location: Fort St. John, British Columbia

Position Type: Full-time

Wage/Salary Range: Competitive hourly wage based on experience; overtime paid in accordance with applicable legislation

Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday, with overtime as required

Hours Per Day: 8–12 hours, depending on operational requirements

Job Overview:
GrizzlyTrek is currently seeking one Shop and Hydro-Vac Swamper to join our Valued Clients team in Fort St. John. This is a full-time position, ideally suited to an individual committed to excellence and safety. This opportunity is ideal for someone seeking to gain hands-on industry experience and work toward obtaining a Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform general shop duties including cleaning, organizing, and maintaining work areas

  • Wash and maintain vacuum trucks and related equipment

  • Assist mechanics with maintenance and repair tasks as required

  • Support hydro-vac and vacuum truck operations as a swamper on active job sites

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures

  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe and operational condition

Qualifications:

  • Valid H2S Alive certification

  • Valid First Aid certification

  • Confined Space certification

  • Reliable transportation to and from the shop in Fort St. John

  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork

  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual labour in various weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working around hydro-vac or vacuum trucks

  • Mechanical aptitude or prior shop experience

  • Interest in obtaining a Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license

Work Environment:

  • Combination of shop-based duties and fieldwork on active project sites

  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and industrial environments

  • Physically demanding tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods

  • Strict adherence to safety regulations and use of personal protective equipment
