General Information
The Utility Worker will report to the Area Manager and will be a critical member of the maintenance team. The Utility Worker will work with the local area and with coordination of other internal departments.
The Utility Worker reports to the Area Manager and supports the maintenance and operation of hydroelectric facilities and associated recreation areas. This role is responsible for executing routine maintenance, supporting minor repairs, and ensuring sites remain compliant with regulatory and company standards, including FERC requirements.
Responsibilities
- Performs general cleanup and upkeep of station facilities and surrounding areas;
- Mows and trims (weed whacks) recreation and dam areas during the growing season;
- Maintains recreation areas in compliance with FERC license requirements;
- Completes painting and basic facility preservation tasks;
- Assists with minor repairs and maintenance activities under supervision;
- Safely operates and maintains tools and equipment, including landscaping equipment;
- Performs work at heights in accordance with fall protection requirements (training & equipment provided);
- Supports daily maintenance priorities as directed by the Area Manager.;
- Coordinates with team members and other departments as needed; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Experience or demonstrated ability in basic carpentry (repairs, light construction, use of hand and power tools);
- Experience operating landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, etc.);
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to procedures;
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions;
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment; and
- Basic communication and time management skills;
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in the energy or power industry; (Hydroelectric a plus)
- Mechanical or electrical aptitude or background; and
- Ability to safely operate a power tools & landscaping equipment for cutting and clearing tasks.
Hourly Rate: $27.39
This position is represented by the IBEW Local Union 486. The filing of this position is subject to the terms and conditions of the governing collective agreement.
