Who We’re Looking For (Position Overview):

We are seeking a highly experienced Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead and support Agile delivery at scale within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment. This individual will serve as a servant leader and coach, driving alignment, execution, and continuous improvement across multiple Agile teams within an Agile Release Train (ART).

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in SAFe principles, Lean-Agile methodologies, and large-scale program facilitation, with the ability to guide teams through complex delivery environments. This role requires strong coordination across product, engineering, and leadership stakeholders to ensure successful Program Increment (PI) execution and delivery of strategic objectives.

This individual will play a critical role in facilitating key SAFe ceremonies—including PI Planning, ART Syncs, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt workshops—while proactively identifying and removing impediments, managing risks, and driving continuous improvement across the ART.

The RTE will also contribute to portfolio-level alignment by collaborating across Solution Trains and supporting Lean Portfolio Management practices. Experience with Agile tooling (e.g., Jira, Rally, VersionOne) is essential to manage backlogs, track dependencies, and support data-driven decision-making.

A strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and enterprise environments is preferred, particularly in supporting secure, compliant delivery practices.

What Your Day-To-Day Looks Like (Position Responsibilities):
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of Agile processes and ceremonies.
  • Provide comprehensive project management support across various initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, senior managers, and financial managers.
  • Ensure successful project execution and adherence to Agile principles.
  • Organize and lead key Agile ceremonies, including PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt workshops.
  • Manage and resolve dependencies between teams, ensuring alignment and collaboration.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, including key metrics, risks, and impediments.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Agile Release Train (ART).
  • Foster a mutually supportive environment within Team Spry, ensuring open communication and collaboration to better support our customer and one another.
What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Requirements):
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Agile project management, with at least 2 years as a Release Train Engineer or similar role.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and frameworks (e.g., SAFe, Scrum, Kanban).
• Five or more years of experience as agile coach
• Knowledge of agile theory, and methodology- including scaling techniques, rules, and practices, estimating/sizing, planning, forecasting, reporting, conflict resolution and facilitation
• Ability to establish goals and objectives that support delivery execution for multiple teams, contribute to the direction of the function and provide advice to the team and delivery leadership
• Ability to lead, plan, execute and evaluate committed work activities to ensure completion of initiatives
• Skill in mentoring, performance management, and, using analytical software tools, data analysis methods, and reporting techniques
• Proficiency using computer applications including MS Office and industry-standard Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence
• Experience in using scrum, kanban, and scaled agile framework (SAFe)
• Strong skills for leading, educating, and coaching
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Education: Bachelor’s degree
Ideally, You Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):
• SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification preferred
• Experience with, SharePoint, ServiceNow, Microsoft Teams, Power BI
• Experience working with NIWC Atlantic or DoD environment
• Education - Bachelors degree in business or technical field
