About This Position

Engineering Manager, Accounting & Reconciliation

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager, Accounting & Reconciliation in United States.

This role sits at the critical intersection of engineering, accounting, and financial systems, ensuring that every financial transaction is accurately recorded, reconciled, and fully auditable. You will lead a team responsible for building and evolving the core ledger and reconciliation infrastructure that underpins all money movement across the platform. Working closely with Accounting and Finance, you will translate complex financial requirements into scalable, deterministic systems designed for precision and trust. This is a high-impact leadership role where engineering decisions directly influence financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and customer confidence. You will operate in a fast-moving environment where ambiguity is common and system correctness is non-negotiable. The role offers the opportunity to shape foundational financial infrastructure at scale while leading a strong technical team.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and grow a team responsible for ledger systems and reconciliation pipelines that ensure accurate tracking of all financial transactions.
  • Design and evolve scalable financial system architectures focused on correctness, idempotency, and auditability.
  • Develop and maintain double-entry ledger models and end-to-end transaction lifecycle frameworks.
  • Build reconciliation systems that align internal financial records with external partners such as banks and payment processors.
  • Partner closely with Accounting and Finance teams to translate financial rules, controls, and reporting requirements into system design.
  • Establish engineering best practices for data integrity, observability, fault tolerance, and system recovery.
  • Guide technical decision-making in environments requiring high precision and regulatory compliance.
Requirements:
  • 6+ years of software engineering experience with 1.5+ years in engineering management roles.
  • Strong experience building ledger systems, financial infrastructure, or reconciliation platforms.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts such as consistency, idempotency, ordering, and failure recovery.
  • Proven ability to design systems where accuracy, auditability, and financial correctness are critical.
  • Experience collaborating with Accounting or Finance teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
  • Bonus: fintech or payments experience, exposure to audit/compliance systems, or familiarity with TypeScript (Node.js), MySQL, GCP, and modern frontend frameworks.
Benefits:
  • Flexible, virtual-first work environment with U.S. remote flexibility
  • Competitive compensation and equity opportunities
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching
  • Generous paid parental and caregiver leave
  • Flexible PTO and company holidays, including extended breaks
  • Home office stipend and remote work support
  • Financial wellness resources, including advisor access
  • Company-wide in-person and virtual team events.
