About This Position
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; or 4+ years of relevant experience in medication access, revenue cycle, pharmacy, managed care, or related healthcare operations may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Experience: Experience with manufacturer patient assistance programs, copay assistance foundations, prior authorizations, appeals, specialty medication reimbursement, and Medicare/Medicaid requirements preferred. Experience in hospital-based, retail pharmacy, or clinic-based medication access programs.
Licensure/Certifications:
Required: Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy Technician license obtained within 6 months of hire.
Preferred: Active CPhT certification through either PTCB or NHA
Skills: Pharmacy management systems. Electronic health records. Specialty pharmacy workflows and operations knowledge. Data reporting and KPI tracking. Payer and reimbursement expertise. Patient-centered care coordination
Physical: This is a safety sensitive position. Please see the St. Bernards Substance Abuse Policy for further information. Work is conducted in a normal hospital environment, and involves close eye work and hearing within normal range. Operations will be performed on the computer and multiple other types of technology. Lifting and carrying up to 45 pounds of weight is possible. Pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds may be encountered. Expect frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
JOB SUMMARY: The Medication Access Team Manager is responsible for ensuring patients receive their medications by navigating insurance, prior authorizations, and financial assistance programs. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills necessary to collaborate with internal teams, patients, healthcare providers, and payors to remove barriers to treatment, conduct benefits investigations, and identify cost-saving solutions. The position focuses on building teams to identify financial barriers, coordinate patient assistance programs, and maintain ongoing communication to support program compliance and continuity of care.
The manager leads a team of medication access specialists, pharmacy technicians, and reimbursement coordinators while collaborating with pharmacists, providers, payers, and pharmaceutical manufacturers. The position is responsible for operational performance, patient access outcomes, compliance, and financial optimization of specialty medication reimbursement.
