MA/LPN/RN Job Responsibilities
Summary of Duties:
Clinical staff perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. In addition to clerical duties, they perform clinical duties in accordance to state law as defined by the practice.
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturations and document all information into the patient’s chart.
- Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician
- Ensure all related reports, labs and information is scanned into and is available in the patients’ medical records prior to their appointment
- Maintain good communication on a daily basis with the team you are assigned to; including the physician, PCC and front desk check-in team
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required, follow all infectious disease cleaning procedures
- Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
- Maintain patient confidentiality – HIPAA. Mandatory annual training is provided.
- Taking medical histories
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients
- Taking X-rays and administering injections, spirometry, alpha 1 testing, oxygen dosing and 6MW testing, biologics, nebulizer treatments, inhaler instruction and any other testing as outlined by the practice. Follow proper safety measures as taught by PCCA
- Document and inform front office staff of procedures so billing is applied
- Provide samples or RX refills to patients. Message physicians regarding requested refills. Follow therapeutic interchange as outlined by physicians
- Clerical duties include, but not limited to: prior authorizations for medications or procedures, CMN’s, chart prep, TE and Action follow-up, answering phone calls and placing appointments and document scanning.
- Distribute HST (Home Sleep Test Units), including instructions and forms to patients. Download, review of data, cleaning, and recycling for next patients.
- Participate in training other MA’s and New MA’s as outlined or assigned.
- Perform any other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
- Formal education from an accredited school
- Maintain active BLS, CMA, RN, LPN or other licensing as it applies
- Proficiency required in verbal communication, health promotion and maintenance, patient services, building relationships, conflict resolution, coordination, listening, teamwork, legal compliance, and organization.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Demonstrate problem solving skills in a complex environment. Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationship and customer service skills. Good organizational and time management skills. Basic skills necessary with Microsoft Work and Microsoft Office. Ability to use other computer programs and applications in ways that facilitate daily workflow.
- Physical demands: sit/stand as needed. Walking and light lifting required. Direct patient contact. Push/pull activities such as pushing wheelchairs to cars and assisting patients in entering or exiting rooms or the building – patient weight up to 400 lbs.

Must have at least 1 year working experience in Medical Assisting.
