Consequently, possessing well-honed interpersonal skills, a pleasant, professional demeanor, and subject-matter expertise are essential to developing and maintaining trusted rapport with all constituency groups, in support of the mission of the College.Code of CommitmentBe a good representative of Hillsdale College to promote the liberal arts, the College’s original Articles of Association, and operating principles stated in the Staff Code of Commitment. Job Description: Job SummaryResponsible for the planning, organization, and execution of functions within the Registrar’s Office, including those associated with curriculum management, academic policy administration, student registration and degree completion, and academic record keeping.Job Responsibilities
- Serves as an internal consultant to College leadership, faculty, staff, and students within areas of functional responsibility and knowledge.
- Participates in managing the College curriculum with respect to its design, content, cohesion, history, and delivery.
- Maintains the Catalog as it describes and memorializes the curriculum and other academic information and policies.
- Oversees the creation of semester class schedules in cooperation with academic departments and faculty.
- Helps to ensure the accuracy and efficacy of course/section ordering, enrollment capacities, instructors and instructional methods, pre-and co-requisites, and other common or unique elements.
- Responsible for making classroom assignments.
- Oversees the creation of Academic Calendars in cooperation with appropriate internal offices and constituencies.
- Oversees administration of policies, procedures, systems to support the integrity, collection, storage, retrieval, and disposition of student academic records.
- Oversees administration of the faculty/student advising system. Oversees administration of policies and procedures related to matters of student academic dishonesty.
- Oversees administration of policies and procedures related to students’ failure to meets standards of academic progress.
- Oversees administration of policies, procedures, systems and activities related to student transfer credit evaluation, enrollment verification, grading, transcripts, academic program declaration, as well as degree completion and conferral.
Required Qualifications: Education and ExperienceThis position requires a bachelor’s degree with additional study, preferably a master’s degree and/or a combination of education, training or experience which fulfills the needs of the College.

- Visioning, and an ability to understand and translate College goals and objectives into actionable plans that can be implemented successfully (functionally, and as necessary, cross-functionally).
- Must be able to develop, educate, and motivate colleagues and subordinate staff to effectively participate in planning and implementation, as well as eventual execution and entrenchment.
- Must be proficient with computers, electronic databases, education-related software, and general office operations.
- The ability to communicate with internal and external audiences, large and small groups, and individuals, extemporaneously or in formal settings, is critical.
- Working effectively and confidentially with faculty and staff to address student issues is also critical. Discernment, sensitivity, and skills in counseling/coaching and problem-solving are necessary to achieve positive outcomes in such situations.
