We’re looking for a Medical Coder Specialist in the NW Arkansas area, who will play a key role in supporting accurate, timely and efficient billing operations that keep our clinics running smoothly and our clients well-served.
This Coder reviews medical records to assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to injuries and treatments, ensuring compliance with state regulations and proper insurance reimbursement. They analyze high-dollar, complex claims for medical appropriateness, acting as a liaison between medical providers and claims staff to process payments.
What You’ll Do:- Coding Accuracy: Translate detailed medical documentation of injuries into accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and CPT procedure codes.
- Compliance & Review: Audit medical charts for billing accuracy, ensuring adherence to Workers' Compensation fee schedules and state laws.
- Communication: Serve as a subject matter expert (SME), answering inquiries from medical providers, and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs).
- Denial Management: Follow up on unpaid or denied claims.
- Reconcile daily/weekly billing reports and assist with month-end statements.
- Communicate with clinics, providers, employers, and third-party administrators regarding billing inquiries.
- Identify trends in denials or errors and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and employer records in accordance with HIPAA.
- Support the Billing Supervisor and team with special projects, process improvements, and departmental needs.
Our Springdale clinic operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with no weekend or holiday hours.
This position is full-time, 40 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Live in the NW Arkansas area or being willing to relocate to the area (this is not a remote role).
- AHIMA (CCS, CCS-P) or AAPC (CPC) certifications are required.
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding.
- Understanding of state-specific fee schedules and medical billing regulations.
- Strong understanding of insurance processes, EOBs, denials and claims follow-up.
- Accurate data-entry skills and strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with billing systems, practice management software and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills and professional demeanor.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in workers' compensation, occupational medicine, or personal injury is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT coding and medical terminology.
- Experience with SYSTOC or other occupational health EMRs.
- Collections or accounts receivable experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
