Summary
Armand Corporation is an award-winning construction management firm that has managed public projects in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania for over 34 years. We are currently looking for a full-time Sr. Accountant to join our Finance Department in New York, NY. Reporting directly to the Assoc. Vice President of Operations.
Responsibilities will include monitoring general accounting practices, assisting in maintaining internal financial controls, and building a strong financial structure for the company. The Sr. Accountant will also work closely with our Construction and Program Management teams. Must be self-motivated, professional, and able to think critically and execute tasks with the utmost accuracy.
This position will report to Armand Corporation’s Headquarters in New York office on a hybrid work schedule.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial statements.
- Assist on the year-end and quarterly closing of the general ledger, review of journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, and WIP preparation.
- Collaborate with account receivable (AR) to ensure billing for proper job code allocation; resolve accounting issues (revenue and expenses) for each active project.
- Manage the accounts payable (AP) process to ensure timely completion of the AP cycle, (check runs, timely vendor payments, etc.).
- Maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions for annual audit; respond to requests from external Independent Auditors (General Liability and Workers Comp).
- Monitor running balances of bank accounts to prevent overdraft; inform CEO on transfer funds among accounts to meet payments for vendor invoices and payroll as needed; request stop payment and maintain void check log.
- Complete Quarterly Work in Progress (WIP) report
- Prepare reports for CEO and AVP-Operations, clients, and outside agencies as requested.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required, advanced degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of accounting experience.
- Understanding of Construction Accounting [especially the WIP Schedule – (Work In Progress)] and ability to review the AIA and reconciliation of payment breakdowns are strongly required.
- Knowledge and experience with standard accounting software packages, specifically Sage 50 (formerly Peachtree) is REQUIRED.
- Experience working with government agency contractual procedures is highly recommended.
- Computer literacy including advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLookUp…etc.) is a prerequisite for the position, and experience with.
- Proven knowledge of high-level accounting (principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to think critically (perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly) with excellent attention to detail.
- Expert level written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly resourceful team-player with the ability to work independently as well.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrates the highest level of customer/client service and response.
- Must be fluent in English (both written and spoken).
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
