Job Description

Lead Network Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Lead Network Engineer in United States.

This role is a senior, hands-on leadership position responsible for designing and operating the enterprise connectivity backbone that supports mission-critical systems across cloud, corporate, and secure environments. You will define network architecture, ensure secure and resilient connectivity, and directly execute complex engineering work in a lean IT organization. Acting as both architect and operator, you will collaborate closely with cybersecurity, platform engineering, and AI/digital teams to deliver integrated, high-performance solutions. The environment is highly technical and security-driven, requiring strong ownership and precision. Your work will directly impact system availability, compliance readiness, and the reliability of enterprise-wide communications. This is a role where network design is treated as a foundational pillar of security and performance.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will lead the design, operation, and evolution of a secure and scalable enterprise network infrastructure:

  • Define and maintain enterprise network architecture across LAN, WAN, VPN, SD-WAN, and hybrid cloud environments
  • Design and manage Azure networking solutions, including ExpressRoute, virtual networks, and secure connectivity patterns
  • Establish network segmentation and Zero Trust-aligned boundary controls to meet compliance requirements such as CMMC
  • Own secure connectivity across on-premises sites, remote users, and cloud environments
  • Design and maintain firewall policies, routing configurations, and secure access controls
  • Support secure and compliant network operations for sensitive and distributed environments, including secure facilities
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity to ensure service reliability and scalability
  • Lead incident response and troubleshooting efforts for network outages and performance issues
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to implement and validate network security controls and encryption standards
  • Maintain detailed network documentation, topology diagrams, and compliance artifacts for audits and assessments
  • Collaborate across engineering teams to support cloud workloads, AI systems, and application connectivity requirements
  • Participate in architecture review and change advisory processes to assess network impact of system changes
Requirements

This role requires deep expertise in enterprise networking, cloud connectivity, and secure infrastructure design, along with strong leadership capabilities:

  • 8–12+ years of experience in network or infrastructure engineering roles
  • Strong background designing and operating enterprise-grade network architectures in hybrid environments
  • Hands-on experience with Azure networking or equivalent cloud platforms
  • Experience with routing, switching, VPNs, SD-WAN, and firewall configuration
  • Strong knowledge of Zero Trust principles, segmentation, and secure network design
  • Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., CMMC, NIST, ISO frameworks)
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex distributed network issues across multiple environments
  • Strong documentation and diagramming skills for enterprise network architectures
  • Experience collaborating across multiple technical teams in a leadership or owner role
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both engineering and leadership stakeholders
  • Preferred: experience with secure facility environments (e.g., SCIF), network automation, or infrastructure-as-code
  • Preferred: certifications such as CCNA/CCNP or equivalent networking credentials
  • Preferred: familiarity with Fortinet solutions and GovCon or similarly regulated environments
  • U.S. citizenship required and eligibility for security clearance mandatory
Benefits
  • Competitive salary range: $165,000 – $175,000 USD annually
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance
  • Retirement savings programs with employer support
  • Paid time off and flexible leave options
  • Professional development and tuition assistance opportunities
  • Structured total rewards program supporting financial and personal well-being
  • Exposure to mission-critical, high-security infrastructure environments
  • Opportunity to work in a highly autonomous, technically deep leadership role
