Ready to take camp leadership to new heights? The Challenge Course Manager is responsible for overseeing all programming and safety within Camp Tracy’s Challenge Course area, creating an exciting, supportive, and secure environment for every participant. This role combines technical expertise, strong supervision, and hands-on instruction—managing equipment, belaying climbers, and training staff while ensuring full compliance with ACA and state licensing standards. Working closely with campers and staff, the Challenge Course Manager sets the tone for teamwork, trust, and personal growth, all while delivering an unforgettable camp experience.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Programming and safety within our camp’s Challenge Course area. The manager is responsible for all equipment, belaying climbers, and creating a safe and fun environment. Providing proper information, training, and supervision of the Challenge Course at Camp Tracy. The Challenge Course Manager will also maintain compliance with ACA & state licensing standards that pertain to the Challenge Course.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure the safety of all patrons & members; remedy all unsafe practices or conditions immediately.
  • Inspect, issue, and maintain Challenge Course equipment; document unsafe equipment and remove it from the inventory to be repaired or replaced.
  • Demonstrate good judgment on group dynamics.
  • Provide first aid in emergency situations.
  • Perform general custodial and maintenance functions of the course, as necessary.
  • Manage the ropes course logbook and maintain compliance with ACA standards.
  • Proper instruction of various aspects of the Challenge Course.
  • Development of proper belaying skills, and spotting skills.
Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Certified in standard first aid and CPR
  • Knowledge or climbing, rope care, and maintenance
  • Extreme attention to detail and safety needs

EXPERIENCE:

  • Belaying experience with ATC or GriGri
  • Experience working with children and supervising staff

WORK SCEHDULE: Seasonal / Monday-Friday: 8:00-4:00 (some days may be scheduled later –after 5pm- to support our residential campers)
