About the role
We’re seeking a strategic, hands-on Technical Director of eCommerce to support our Brio Pro business unit. This leader will own the architecture, scalability, performance, and security of our digital commerce ecosystem. You will oversee platform engineering, systems integrations, and technical innovation to deliver a seamless, high-performing customer experience across web, mobile, and emerging channels.
This role partners closely with Product, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to translate business strategy into scalable technical solutions that drive revenue growth, operational efficiency, and customer retention.
You will report to the VP Brio Pro, with strong cross-functional collaboration across executive leadership.
The ideal candidate brings retail or CPG industry experience, thrives in fast-paced environments, and knows how to scale technical ecosystems that unlock measurable revenue growth.
What you'll do
Platform Strategy & Architecture
- Own the technical roadmap for the eCommerce ecosystem (Experience with Shopify Plus and Salesforce Ecosystem preferred).
- Define and implement scalable, API-first architecture (headless and composable frameworks).
- Ensure system reliability, uptime, performance optimization, and site speed.
- Lead platform replatforming initiatives and major architectural transformations.
Systems & Integrations
- Oversee integrations across ERP, OMS, PIM, CRM, CDP, subscription, and fulfillment systems.
- Manage middleware and integration layers (e.g., Klaviyo, Ometria, payment gateways, and 3PL APIs).
- Ensure clean, reliable data flow to power reporting, personalization, lifecycle marketing, and decision-making.
Engineering Leadership
- Lead and mentor engineering teams across front-end, back-end, DevOps, and QA.
- Establish best practices in CI/CD, code quality, documentation, testing, and security.
- Manage agency and technology vendor relationships.
- Build and scale the team in alignment with growth projections.
Performance & Conversion Optimization
- Partner with Growth and Product teams to enable experimentation frameworks.
- Ensure infrastructure supports A/B testing, personalization, and advanced merchandising logic.
- Optimize Core Web Vitals, checkout flows, and mobile performance to drive conversion improvements.
Security & Compliance
- Maintain PCI compliance and enterprise-grade data security standards.
- Implement fraud prevention and risk mitigation solutions.
- Ensure GDPR/CCPA compliance where applicable.
Innovation & Emerging Technology
- Evaluate and implement modern tools, AI-driven personalization, and automation solutions.
- Champion modernization initiatives including headless storefronts, microservices, and edge computing.
- Balance innovation with disciplined technical debt management.
Qualifications
- 8–12+ years of experience in eCommerce engineering or digital platform leadership
- Experience scaling DTC businesses ($50M–$500M+ revenue preferred)
- Deep expertise in API architecture, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience supporting subscription and retention infrastructure
- Strong business acumen and the ability to tie technical decisions directly to P&L impact
- Proven people leadership experience, including managing managers and specialized technical functions
- Comfortable operating at both strategic and executional levels
- A collaborative leader who can influence cross-functional partners and senior stakeholders

The pay range for this role is:
184,000 - 225,000 USD per year(801 N Brand)
