About This Position

Corporate Counsel, Data Privacy

The Siteimprove Legal team is seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel to join our global team of commercial, privacy, and compliance experts across the U.S. and Denmark.

Based in our Copenhagen headquarters, you will serve as a strategic legal advisor to EMEA commercial teams and to our global privacy and security functions. In this senior role, you will apply deep legal expertise, advanced judgment, and a solutionsoriented mindset to accelerate business growth, reduce organizational risk, and strengthen Siteimproves compliance posture.

You will independently lead complex legal matters, influence senior stakeholders, and guide the business through sophisticated commercial negotiations and privacy requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
What you will be doing
  • Reporting directly to the General Counsel, a substantial part of this role is working with Data Privacy matters together with the Senior Privacy Counsel. You will be responsible for keeping both Siteimprove, our Partners, and our services compliant with global privacy laws and handling various customer requests and DPA negotiations. In this role, you will also work closely with our GTM teams to expand our customer base by negotiating various commercial contracts and public tenders.
Privacy & Compliance Leadership
  • Serve as a primary legal authority on global data privacy matters, partnering closely with the Senior Privacy Counsel to interpret, apply, and operationalize global regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA, and emerging frameworks).
  • Lead end to end management of complex DPA negotiations, high risk customer escalations, and cross border data transfer strategies.
  • Shape and maintain Siteimproves privacy governance model, ensuring scalable processes and compliance frameworks across global operations.
Commercial & Strategic Contracting
  • Independently lead and negotiate complex, high value commercial agreements, enterprise SaaS contracts, partner frameworks, procurement agreements, and public tenders.
  • Act as a strategic business partner to GTM leadership, advising on deal structure, risk allocation, and commercial opportunities to support growth targets.
  • Develop contracting playbooks, risk guidelines, and negotiation strategies to enable more efficient and consistent commercial outcomes.
Cross Functional Influence & Program Leadership
  • Lead cross departmental legal and compliance initiatives involving Finance, Customer Support, Marketing, IT, Product, and Security.
  • Assess legal and operational risks across functions and design practical, business aligned solutions to mitigate them.
  • Drive legal enablement efforts, including training, policy development, and process optimization initiatives that improve organizational maturity.
Corporate Governance & M&A
  • Oversee aspects of corporate governance and global compliance programs related to privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support M&A activities by conducting due diligence, evaluating risk, and contributing to integration planning.

What we will require of you
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm or inhouse role, preferably with substantial exposure to EU regulatory environments.
  • Masters degree in Law (Cand.jur, Cand.merc.jur, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated success navigating complex, crossfunctional legal challenges in a fastpaced environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate across diverse cultural and geographic contexts.
  • Strong independent judgment and ability to operate with minimal supervision on complex, highimpact matters.
What we will love about you
  • Experience in a SaaS or technologydriven organization, with deep understanding of commercial models, licensing, and datacentric business operations.
  • Additional proficiency in German and/or Dutch.
  • Strong technical curiosity and comfort engaging with product, engineering, and IT teams on software and technology topics.
  • A proactive, pragmatic, solutionsdriven mindset and ideally, a creative edge that helps Legal win the occasional Siteimprove talent competition!
