Essential Functions
- Responsible for supervising the coordination, planning, implementation and evaluation of all activities for residents at Westminster Place and Ten Twenty Grove.
- Maintain well balanced activities program through optimum coordination of activities staff, equipment, facilities, volunteer services, material resources and community resources.
- Responsible for recruitment, hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of all activities personnel at Westminster Place and Ten Twenty Grove.
- The Director of Community Programs & Volunteer Servicesat Westminster Place will act as the campus champion/spokesperson for living a full, enriched life to the fullest. This will include presenting seminars and workshops to residents, families, and the community.
- Develops, implements, and oversees Montessori-based programming for our residents, in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team. Specifically, this will require a close, collaborative working relationship with the Health Care Administrator and DON. Develops, implements and oversees an art therapy program, created in tandem with an Art Therapist. Acts as a role model to the nursing staff, upholding the standards of practice of Presbyterian Homes, and Westminster Place. Functions as the contact and problem-solving person for residents, physicians, families, and visitors as indicated.
- Maintains a minimum of ten (16) hours of continuing education per year as per IDPH requirement for memory care.
Skills/Qualifications
- Degree in recreational therapy or related field.
- Minimum of five years management and supervisory experience in working with a geriatric population that includes dementia care.
- Demonstrate ability to manage and motivate others.
- Excellent organizational and communications skills.
- Demonstrates orientation toward customer service.
