Qualifications

We are currently seeking a Senior Transportation Planner / Senior Transportation Engineer to join our Transportation Development team in Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC!

As a Senior Transportation Planner/Engineer, you will work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment and must have excellent communication, data management, and documentation skills. You will serve as a Project Manager, taking a leadership role in management, production, and quality assurance/quality control procedures. In addition to working with existing clients on the state, regional, and local levels, the candidate will support business development efforts by identifying and pursuing new clients to maintain a successful operation.

You will bring innovative solutions to our client's problems and lead the collection and analysis of data, and provide technical and management leadership for transportation planning projects of varying size and scope. The candidate should have experience with successfully taking projects through the NEPA/SEPA process.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
  • AICP or PE Certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive transportation development experience, with at least 5 years of project management experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with NEPA (and NC equivalent), Section 4F, Section 6F, Section 106, Section 404, NCDOT Merger Process, including preparation of environmental compliance documents.
  • NCDOT and municipality client experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS, Microsoft Office (including MS Project) is required. Experience with MicroStation is helpful.
  • Experience identifying grant opportunities and developing grant applications preferred, but not required.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Facilitation skills with leading public engagement and stakeholder meetings.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail along with overall
    quality control and management.
  • Conscientious of project schedules (including Microsoft Project) and deadlines involving deliverables (including interim deadlines).
  • Ability to track individual project tasks and financial management of
    individual and overall project tasks.
  • Strong teamwork and project organization skills working on projects and with staff
  • Willingness to participate in business development efforts.
