Job Description - HVAC Service Technician/Installer

We’ve worked on everything from new installations and minor repairs to annual maintenance and complete refits. In short, our deep marine expertise ensures your equipment runs well long after you’ve left the dock.

Job Summary: The HVAC Service Technician/Installer will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, air conditioning systems, and marine water maker units. This position will also be responsible for the installation of new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis, service, and repair of marine air conditioning and refrigeration systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits for faults and open circuits
  • Perform routine soldering/brazing of copper joints and dissimilar metals
  • Test pipe or tubing joints or connections for leaks, using pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution
  • Join pipes or tubing to equipment and/or water or refrigerant source, to form a complete circuit
  • Reassemble and test equipment following repairs
  • Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring
  • Layout and connect electrical wiring between controls and equipment, according to wiring diagrams, using electrician’s hand tools
  • Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area
  • Inspect and test systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate malfunctions
  • Perform other related duties as required
Requirements:

Required Experience:

  • 2+ years’ experience in residential or commercial HVAC servicing and installation; marine HVAC and water maker reverse osmosis experience preferred

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • EPA certification or the ability to obtain one – timeframe based on specific job duties
  • Possess a valid Florida driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Understanding of basic hand tool usage, including meters, gauges, drills, and saws etc.
  • Availability for overtime and/or weekend work
  • Ability to solve problems and troubleshoot
  • Capacity to work in a team environment and independently
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to lift and bend frequently; must be able to routinely lift and move up to 50 lbs. without assistant; capable of working in indoor and outdoor settings; exposure to hot and humid environments; comfortable in confided spaces aboard marine vessels at times

Required Education:

  • Minimum High school diploma, HVAC accredited schooling completion required.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • This is an hourly – in the field position| Monday–Friday | 7:30 AM–5:00 PM
  • Weekend as needed
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, is a plus
