Position Highlights:
The Lead Gift Shop Cashier is responsible for stepping into the Store Manager's role when needed. Provides excellent customer service to patients, visitors, families and co-workers and supports the hospital mission and vision. Lead Gift Shop Cashier must understand the primary operations responsibilities of the Store Manager in order to carry out the Store Manager's responsibilities in their absence.

Responsibilities:
- Customer Service
Each employee’s most important role is to provide exceptional customer service to every customer who enters the gift shop. This includes greeting every customer upon entry to the shop, thanking them for their purchase and inviting them back as they exit the shop. Gift shop employees must model the hospital's customer service standards in every interaction
- Store Performance
Every team member plays a role in store performance and all gift shop staff are responsible for meeting store performance objectives. The Lead Cashier shares responsibility for gift shop sales performance with the store manager. The Lead Cashier is responsible for making sure the team knows what store goals are and how the store is performing at any given point again those goals on their shifts. All employees play a role in achieving store performance goals.
- Store Appearance
The lead cashier is responsible for assisting the manager with the appearance of the gift shop. This covers everything from general housekeeping to ensuring planograms. Any special cleanliness requirements related to infection prevention are the responsibility of all gift shop staff. Surfaces should be cleaned as per the gift shop schedule and instructions. It is the Lead's responsibility on any shifts they are working to ensure these tasks are carried out.
- Cash Management
The Lead cashier shares responsibility for all cash handling with the store manager. This includes assisting with training employees on proper cash handling methods and accounting for all monies collected. The lead will make bank deposits in the store managers absence, which are generally done each weekday unless otherwise noted by the Corporate Office. The Lead cashier must audit each associate's cash handling skills to ensure any mistakes are caught immediately and any concerns are addressed quickly. The Lead must also be comfortable with all forms of payment that are available for use in the shop, including Payroll Deduction for hospital employees and Hospital Charge Accounts.
Credentials and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Three (3) years cashier, general customer service, or related experience
