About This Position

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Full-Service Controller to oversee the financial operations of our service business. This is a critical role responsible for managing all aspects of the company's financial operations, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, and strategic financial analysis. The ideal candidate will be proficient in QuickBooks and Excel and have a strong background in financial management within a service industry or entertainment setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
    • Review and analyze financial performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Lead the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to forecast future financial needs.
    • Monitor actual performance against the budget and provide variance analysis.
  • Accounting and Bookkeeping:
    • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
    • Ensure proper documentation and accurate recording of all financial transactions in QuickBooks.
  • Cash Flow Management:
    • Monitor cash flow to ensure liquidity and efficient use of company funds.
    • Prepare cash flow forecasts to identify short-term and long-term financial needs.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance:
    • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws, financial regulations, and industry standards.
    • Work with external tax preparers and auditors to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Financial Analysis and Strategy:
    • Provide financial analysis to support decision-making, including profitability analysis, cost control, and pricing strategies.
    • Work with leadership to develop and implement financial strategies that align with business goals.
  • Software and Systems Management:
    • Maintain and optimize the use of QuickBooks for financial record-keeping and reporting.
    • Utilize Excel for advanced financial modeling, reporting, and data analysis. MUST BE PROFICIENT IN CREATING FINANCIAL PROJECTIONS.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other departments to ensure financial alignment with operational goals.
    • Provide training and support to staff on accounting systems and financial processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 2 years in a controller or senior accounting role within a service industry.
    • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel (advanced level), and other accounting software.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial reporting.
    • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
    • Ability to manage cash flow, working capital, and financial controls.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial data clearly.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a multi silo environment keeping separate accounting for different related business modalities.
  • Familiarity with payroll processing and employee benefits administration. We use Paylocity.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas.
