About This Position
Essential Duties
· Manages the overall financial operations of the organization, including, but not limited to ensuring that continuing contractual obligations are being fulfilled; allocating resources for greater program effectiveness and efficiency; developing policies and program objectives for Board consideration.
· Provides effective leadership of staff; develops and implements short and long-range fiscal plans and policies for the benefit of the organization and its clients.
· Promotes HOPE, Inc. as the premier peer support organization to the behavioral health community and prospective funding sources.
· Represents HOPE, Inc. in its business relationships with government agencies, community organizations, suppliers, competitors, professional organizations and similar groups.
· Ensures compliance with and support of Board directives, Agency contracts, grant awards and established policies and procedures.
· Protects the organization's legal interests and maintains its operations within the law.
· Maintains prudent fiscal procedures within the generally accepted accounting procedures guidelines (GAAP)
· Prepare and present monthly financial statements to the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Board of Directors.
· Manages the financial affairs of the organization, including the development and implementation of the annual budget, mid-year budget review (MYBR), and capital budget (if applicable); proposes revisions as necessary; ensures appropriate control and accountability of all funds, physical assets, and other property.
· Assists the Executive Management Team in the development and implementation of the agency's strategic plan.
· Oversees and maintains compliance with all Risk Management standards as they relate to Finances.
· Reconciles accounts—including bank and credit card accounts, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, etc.—as needed for month-end and fiscal year-end close.
· Develops expense allocations for grant billings as well as proper allocation fo costs to HOPE operations.
· Coordinates the year-end closing process with the finance staff in preparation for the year-end independent audit and 990 return reporting; serves as the main liaison to the external audit firm for the planning, conducting, and finalizing of the year-end independent audit and 990 return reporting.
· Ensures accurate management of grant tracking, grant fiscal compliance and reporting matters.
· Prepares and submits monthly, quarterly, and annual government filings and reports.
· Prepares periodic grant status reports for CEO review.
· In collaboration with Human Resources, assists in the planning and budgeting of staffing needs; assists with the plan, design and implementation of benefits and compensation structures annually.
· (Required) Peer - Individuals must have first- hand knowledge of a behavioral health condition or substance abuse issue, whether or not they received treatment or medication or identify as a family member of someone in recovery.
· Must be at least 21 years of age per licensing requirements.
· Ability to plan and implement organization-wide activities (developing strategies, budgeting, developing policies and procedures, and organizing the functions necessary to accomplish the activities)
· Four (4) years of accounting (or related) education, bachelor's degree required, Master's Preferred in a related field, accounting, finance, or business
· Knowledge of the principles and techniques of financial operations, budgeting, financial planning, grant administration, contract administration and negotiation, medical billing administration, human resource administration
· Five (5) years' experience with full accrual accounting, oversight of 3-5 years general ledger accounting experience required.
· Non-profit accounting experience is preferred.
· Strong management, leadership, and organizational skills
· Proven effectiveness managing others, empowering them to make decisions.
· Experience effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, the Board, or other outside partners/stakeholders/clients.
· Effective oral and written communications skills
· Windows-based accounting software experience required.
