About This Position
Job Overview:
This is a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU Clinical Specialist Pharmacist role based within the Pharmacy for Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center,
Qualifications:
Required:
-
Registration in New Jersey as a pharmacist; current New Jersey licensure required
-
Completion of course at an accredited School of Pharmacy, with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD
-
PGY1 residency program completion or equivalent experience
-
Pharmacotherapy Specialty Certification BCPS within one year of employment
-
BLS and ACLS required within six months of employment
Preferred:
-
PGY2 residency in Pediatrics, Critical Care, or equivalent experience preferred

Registration in New Jersey as a licensed pharmacist immunizer

Essential Functions:
-
Provides focused pharmaceutical care through inpatient rounding and assumes role of drug information provider to the NICU service

Provides occasional cross coverage, patient counseling, and assumes role of drug information provider for other clinical pharmacy specialty services, including but not limited to: Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit, Pediatrics

Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, workshops, in-service meetings, etc,
-
Monitors specific medication prescribing in accordance with established drug usage criteria, prior to dispensing, as defined by the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee,

Provides educational rotation for both PGY1 and PGY2 residents

Facilitates PGY1 and PGY2 resident research projects

Provides consults and educates patients regarding their medications for acute disease state management and chronic conditions
-
Utilizes the medication screening process to ensure medication orders are complete, appropriate, within legal parameters and prioritized
-
Documents and provides analytical support for all clinical activities, interventions, medication errors, adverse drug reactions according to criteria set forth by the Department of Pharmacy

Participates in Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center NICU Medication Safety Committee

Participates in the RWJBarnabas Health Pediatrics Corporate Collaborative
