About This Position
Job Overview:
RWJ Barnabas Health is looking for a Director of Medical Education and Affairs at our Toms River, NJ facility – Community Medical Center. This position provides administrative direction for Medical Staff Services and to the medical staff organization. This position maintains responsibility formonitoring all applicable regulatory laws and statutes (state and federal) and accreditation standards, as well as the Medical Staff Bylaws, rules andregulations, and the policies of RWJBH Community Medical Center for compliance by the medical staff organization. This position manages, directs andsupports the facility’s medical staff operations and provides leadership and oversight for peer review, credentialing, and other required medical stafffunctions. Works with facility's C-suite to align relationships and organizational strategies with medical staff leadership. The Director of Medical StaffServices reports to the Chief Medical Officer
Qualifications:
Required:
- Preferred Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) certification. Must obtain CPMSM certification within 1 year of employment.
- Preferred strong understanding and experience of medical staff services and operations
- Requires demonstrated abilities and experience in conflict resolution, high-level problem solving, and decision-making.
- Requires extensive experience interacting with physicians in highly sensitive situations.
- Requires astute judgment in human relations skills to interface and communicate in an articulate manner with medical staff, administrators, legal counsel and hospital personnel.
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
Scheduling Requirements:
- Shift working, 9:00—5:00 each day
- Days to work

Essential Functions:
- Principal resource for compliance with internal and external standards, including accrediting and regulatory agencies, as they apply to themedical staff organization.
- Serves as the liaison between the Medical Staff organization and hospital administration.
- Manages daily activities of the Medical Staff Services Department
- Manages the provider credentialing process, department leadership, and quality management as it relates to medical staff services.
