About This Position
DUTIES:
A Lead Bilingual Elementary Teacher (Chinese) with our organization performs the following
professional duties in the Chinese and English languages:
1. Teach appropriate grade level standards-based curriculum in Reading, Writing, Math,
Science, Social Studies, and Personal Development to diverse elementary students in the
target language (Chinese), following organization Literacy Program and Math or other
school approved curriculum.
2. Use a backward design approach to embed 21st Century Skills throughout units of study,
providing multiple opportunities for students to prepare to thrive in a global society with
learning that is engaging, sustainable and applicable to everyday life.
3. Counsel students to encourage and support student achievement and successful classroom
management through Positive Behavior support and Restorative Practices.
4. Monitor, supervise, coordinate, and enforce rule of conduct and behavior assigned
students.
5. Observe, evaluate, report and record students' academic performance, behavior, social
development, and physical health. Attend and provide data for Student Support Team or
Individual Education Plans (IEPs) meetings as requested.
6. Prepare educational course outlines, objectives, and materials according to curriculum
guidelines with grade level teams.
7. Present subject matter to students by instructing individually and in groups using various
active teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions), adjusting teaching style
and method to meet student learning style.
8. Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students.
9. Prepare, administer, assign, and grade balanced assessments and assignments to evaluate
student progress, reporting grades using school software.
10. Prepare student, attendance and activity reports as required by administrators.
11. Oversee and manage classroom teaching assistant in performance of teaching assistant
job duties.
12. Communicate with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to
resolve students' behavioral and academic problems; and coordinate instructional efforts.
13. Completed additional before and/or after school supervisory duties, as assigned.
14. Cultivate a collaborative, inclusive, efficient workplace by maintaining a spirit of
innovation and adaptability. Attend Professional Development, serve on committees,
provide insight, perform research, analyze data, or otherwise contribute to achieving our
mission. Assist with and attend school events such as cultural, recruitment or PTA events
is also expected.
15. Follow the guidelines of the organization Strategic Communication Plan to maintain and
update content on individual classroom websites and communicate with organization
families.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s in Teaching Chinese, closely related field, or fgn equiv dgre
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Two years’ experience in Teaching Chinese (K-8)
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to speak, read and write Chinese and English
SALARY: $77,990.00/ year
