Job Overview:
The Pharmacist is responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical care to all patient age groups including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and neonatal patients. He or she is responsible for the preparation, dispensing and monitoring of both the prescribing and effectiveness of all medications and IV admixtures. The Pharmacist will assume the supervisory role in the absence of the Director of Pharmacy, Assistant Director, or Pharmacy Supervisor, to ensure that all medication orders are complete, appropriate and within legal parameters. The Pharmacist must exercise considerable independent decision-making. The Pharmacist shall comply with all department and hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Registration in New Jersey as a Pharmacist
- Current New Jersey licensure required
- Hospital Pharmacy experience preferred with good interpersonal relationship skills

Essential Functions:
- Supervises the maintenance of the compounding room environment and coordinates the daily operations of sterile compounding.
- Verifies and monitors medication-prescribing orders by established drug references and established drug usage criteria, before dispensing, as defined by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee or as determined by management, e, g shortages, etc.
- Makes every attempt to be knowledgeable of changing policies, procedures, and clinical issues.
- Follows all procedures involved in the appropriate documentation of all medication errors, adverse drug reactions, and interventions and meets the required minimum documentation per employment status.
- A pharmacist appropriately enters and updates clinical intervention in the electronic health record system for all rejected orders.
- Verifies and monitors medical orders by established policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements.
- Completes department and organization competencies including net learning as assigned.
