Internal auditors may be assigned to conduct financial, operational, compliance and/or privacy audits for use in reviewing and assessing the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with regulations and internal policies. Audit findings, conclusions and recommendations are prepared and communicated to management and the implementation of audit recommendations and follow-up activity is initiated as necessary.
Duties also include providing information and assistance to external auditors, participation in special management projects as requested, overseeing ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to the organization's policies and procedures covering the privacy of, and access to, uses and disclosures of patient health information in compliance with federal and state laws and the health care organizations information privacy practices.
This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Hospital. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education/Training/Experience: REQUIRED:- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) with 2 years of medical coding experience or 3 years internal auditing experience in the medical field
- Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel
- Has an ability to learn other system applications for electronic medical records, billing and miscellaneous systems.
- Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year accredited university
- Coding certification (CPC) from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or CCS-P certification from AHIMA.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience if non-certified coder or medical auditor
- Exempt
