The Impact You Will Have

This Systems Engineer will be responsible for the execution of disaster recovery strategy within the overall Enterprise Resilience Program, with a focus on recovery in the cloud. This position will help to ensure that the company has the capability to anticipate, prepare for, respond to and adapt to internal or external disruptions that impact our company's technology, operations, customers and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will lend subject matter expertise while analyzing and evaluating technical requirements for disaster recovery plans, processes and strategies. They will plan, develop, test, document and execute disaster recovery plans alongside of relevant technical and business partners. This is done through conducting detailed analysis of customer requirements for new or existing disaster recovery plans to determine recommended actions, cost and time required. This person will have a history of introducing continuous improvement for processes and procedures in the disaster recovery space. They will also demonstrate knowledge of industry metrics and reporting requirements in regulated industries.

Your Responsibilities
  • Conducts detailed analysis and study of customer requirements for new or existing projects to determine feasibility, cost and time required, and compatibility with current systems and hardware capabilities.
  • Develops and documents the framework for integration and implementation for changes to technical standards.
  • Develops moderate to complex infrastructure interactions to ensure the security, stability, recoverability, and access to systems and information.
  • Participates in cross-functional initiatives on the development and implementation of enterprise-wide major installations, upgrades and process changes.
  • Facilitates knowledge sharing by creating and maintaining detailed, comprehensive documentation and diagrams.
  • Provides technical guidance to others as appropriate.
  • Tracks industry trends and maintains knowledge of new technologies to better serve the enterprise architecture needs.
  • Performs systems support activities and may include required participation in an on-call rotation for support of systems outside of normal business hours.
  • Participates in structured cross-functional processes including architecture, change, risk, resiliency, incident, problem, CMDB, and asset management.

Required Skills and Experience
  • 3+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
  • Cloud Service Provider Certification (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, etc.) - required within 1 year of employment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of infrastructure design, implementation, administration, planning, developing Demonstrated knowledge of technical, business, and industry.
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong human relations skills to effectively interact with leadership and management, peers, business partners and vendors.
  • Skilled at systems, creative, critical and analytical thinking, decision making and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the standards and deliverables to ensure integrity of the systems engineering process.
  • Knowledge of internal area applications.
  • Demonstrated skills at hands-on communication, collaboration and leadership.
  • Skilled at influencing and motivating individuals and teams.
  • High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge of BCBS computer/ technical environment methodologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of multiple business areas.
  • Advanced AWS or Azure certification(s)
  • DRII or BCI certification
  • Fusion System Admin certification
  • Experience designing disaster recovery plans in healthcare or another highly regulated industry
  • Experience in enterprise resilience/ disaster recovery in a midsize to large organization
  • Demonstrated experience creating disaster recovery plans for cloud-based systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of resilience and disaster recovery best practices, standards and frameworks
  • Proven ability to guide team towards shared goals without relying on positional authority

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $90,800.00 - $120,300.00 - $149,800.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
