About This Position
Consejo Counseling and Referral Service, a not-for-profit organization, is hiring a Temporary full-time Accounting 1 for our Renton, WA location.
Summary of Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Accountant 1 position is responsible for a variety of complex accounting functions and confidential clerical information. Accountant 1 will also be working closely with the Grants and Contracts Manager to ensure Consejo's compliance with funders, corporations, and foundations
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform a variety of general accounting duties, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable & billings, credit cards & other reconciliations, and journal entries. Also, ensure that the month-end procedures and subsidiary ledgers are completed. Serve as a backup for the accounting staff.
Receive and receipt cash items and third-party reimbursements, post and reconcile payments to client ledgers as directed. Working as a liaison with Data's team on software, processes, and reconciliations.
Reconcile monthly reports, including bank statements, and GL accounts.
Maintain accurate account tracking and records filing system. Scanning and distributing documents to the accounting team and other Consejo's staff. Work with the Accounting Team and Program Managers on expenditures verifications; Prepare basic accounting and financial reports.
Assist Grants Supervisor with maintaining and preparing contract-related paperwork, reports, and invoices; grants monitoring and other communications with Program Managers and Funders.
Provide support to the Grants Manager and Accounting Manager with other ad-hoc projects.
Ensure compliance with agency, contractual, and regulatory standards.
Ensure strict confidentiality of administrative and financial records.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (formulas, pivot tables, and data organization
Knowledge of general accounting principles and practices, including accounts payable/receivable, journal entries, and reconciliations
Experience with accounting software and financial reporting tools
Ability to prepare and review financial documents, reports, and invoices with accuracy
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining records and supporting month-end procedures
Ability to work collaboratively with program managers, funders, and internal teams
Experience supporting grants administration and contract compliance preferred
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ensuring compliance with agency and regulatory standards
WORK SCHEDULE This Temporary full-time, in-person position works from Monday to Friday.
SALARY
$70,000 to $80,000 annual salary. Pay will depend on experience, qualifications, and credentials.
