Technical Security Coordinator at Rush Copley Medical Center – Aurora, Illinois
About This Position
The Technical Security Coordinator (TSC) is responsible for all of the Security Services electronic security systems. Under the general supervision of the designated site leader, the TSC monitors functionality, programs, orders repairs and maintenance of all electronic security components which consist of CCTV, intrusion alarms, access control systems, video recording devices, report writing, emergency mass communications systems and associated processing units. The TSC is also responsible for the training of security officers that are assigned to the Security Communication’s room. Candidates must exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintains familiarity with the performance capabilities and limitations of all Medical Center security systems.
2. Programs systems databases when appropriate.
3. Works with Facilities, Information Technology, other departments and vendors to oversee the reliability and daily operation of all security related systems, complete and/or coordinate upgrades/repairs of these systems as needed, documents repair history and make certain that problem areas of the security system are restored.
4. Maintains all records, discs and other means of data and information storage. Backs-up and retrieves all data as needed or scheduled.
5. Administers parameters of access control system, creates access profiles and badges.
6. Trains all designated Security personnel in the use and monitoring of all electronic security systems.
7. Creates written procedures for security and access control/video recording systems.
8. Conducts scheduled system tests, maintains system status reports and distributes custom reports to appropriate stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred in criminal justice, computer science or relevant field of study.
2. Technical Skills: Must be capable of using department and system technology. Skills include understanding of computer networking, switches, routers, gateways, VLANS, IP addresses and MAC addresses. Creating computer pathways and backing up data.
3. Interpersonal Skills: Capable of working with other departments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
