About This Position
Position Description: Aides in the collecting, developing, analyzing and communicating instructional/institutional data and other information to constituents throughout the college, to support and enhance informed decision-making, problem solving, strategic planning, policy development, and instructional/institutional self-assessment. Performs applied research, and designs, executes, and evaluates analytical and statistical studies and/or instructional/institutional self-assessments. Designs and manages information systems and databases to support instructional/institutional research activities. Position Responsibilities: 30.00% - Acquires, manipulates, develops, and maintains longitudinal data sets, verifying accuracy and consistency over time, in the context of evolving requirements regarding reporting instructional/institutional facts.
20.00% - Conducts and/or assists on a wide variety of survey research efforts for the unit; participates in survey construction, development of survey instruments, and design of survey protocols and procedures.
25.00% - Performs data reduction, statistical analysis of data, and interpretation of results; prepares or participates in the preparation and presentation of formal research reports, create reports and visuals for Board and other presentations, create reports as needed for program evaluations, provide analytical support to supervisor and other team members, create reports as needed to meet KBOR and other external entities. 15.00% - Designs and manages information systems and databases to support instructional/institutional research activities.
5.00% - Maintains IR web site.
5.00% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
Expectations: Work directly with users from all departments in determining instructional/institutional needs.
Knowledge of software used to manipulate, summarize, and produce reports from multiple, large, complex data sets.
Ability to analyze statistical data and generate reports, and design and administer survey instruments in support of the yearly college plan.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel and work in a team environment, without close supervision.
Broad knowledge of applications such as Access, or other PC database programs; Excel, or other PC spreadsheet programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience - Two years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education - 1) A two year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school. Interpersonal Skills - Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
Other Skills - Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
