Fabricator, Welder and Trailer Mechanic at Service Tire Truck Centers – SYRACUSE, New York

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Fabricator, Welder, and Trailer Mechanic to join our team. This position involves metal fabrication, welding, and maintenance or repair of trailers and related equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical skills, experience with welding and fabrication, and the ability to diagnose and repair trailer components efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding on steel and aluminum components.
• Fabricate and modify metal parts, frames, and trailer structures.
• Repair and maintain utility, equipment, and heavy-duty trailers.
• Diagnose and repair trailer systems including:
  • Axles
  • Brakes
  • Suspension
  • Electrical systems
  • Couplers and hitches
• Cut, grind, and shape metal using fabrication tools and machinery.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements.
• Install trailer components such as ramps, jacks, lights, and wiring.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Follow shop safety procedures and quality standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in metal fabrication and welding.
• Knowledge of trailer repair and mechanical systems.
• Ability to operate fabrication equipment such as:
  • Plasma cutters
  • Torches
  • Grinders
  • Drill presses
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical work.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
