About This Position
Agile Space Industries is a rapidly growing supplier of propulsion hardware and engineering services for the space industry. Headquartered in Durango, Colorado, with expanding operations in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, Agile has achieved more than 40% year-over-year growth for the past three years, and our momentum continues to accelerate.
At Agile, we design, build, and test in-space propulsion systems that give spacecraft the ability to maneuver with precision, reliability, and purpose. Our technologies play a critical role in missions that range from lunar landings and resource utilization to national defense, human exploration, and commercial space transport.
We are seeking bold and driven individuals who thrive in a hands-on, fast-moving environment and want to help write the next chapter of space history as part of a close-knit, innovative team.
Agile Space Industries - Space Test Center is seeking a Propulsion Test Engineer II - Ground Support Equipment (GSE) onsite in Tulsa, OK to support the design, build, and commissioning of a new rocket propulsion test facility. This role is focused on hands-on mechanical engineering work required to bring complex test infrastructure into operation.
The work is hardware-driven and spans detailed mechanical design, CAD and drawings, analysis, documentation, and integration of vendor-designed custom equipment. The facility includes test stands, pressure systems, vacuum hardware, propellant feed systems, scrubbers, cooling systems, and supporting infrastructure.
This is not a software role, a quality assurance role, or a purely analytical position. Candidates should be comfortable working across drawings, calculations, field coordination, and commissioning support in an active test environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed mechanical designs, layouts, and assemblies for test infrastructure and ground systems
- Produce and maintain fabrication drawings, layouts, and as-built documentation
- Develop P&IDs to support mechanical design and system integration
- Integrate vendor-designed custom equipment into the facility mechanical design
- Review vendor drawings, calculations, and technical submittals for consistency with design intent
- Perform first-order mechanical analysis (stress, thermal, flow, fit-up) as required
- Support installation planning, field fit-up, and commissioning activities
- Maintain organized documentation, revision control, and configuration consistency
- Coordinate closely with Controls, Electrical, and Systems Engineering during design and build-out
- Participate in design reviews, readiness reviews, and system checkout activities
- Typical experience: 2–7 years, or Master’s degree with relevant project or hands-on experience
- Independently develop mechanical designs and layouts for defined subsystems
- Own detailed design packages, drawings, and supporting calculations
- Perform first-order stress, thermal, and flow analyses with minimal oversight
- Lead portions of vendor technical review and coordination
- Support integration across mechanical, controls, and instrumentation interfaces
- Contribute to design trade studies and problem resolution during build and commissioning
- Direct experience supporting rocket engine testing or propulsion test facilities
- Experience in aerospace systems, particularly aerospace testing or ground test environments
- Hands-on work with test stands, ground support equipment, or facility infrastructure
- Experience with pressure systems, piping, and instrumentation in industrial environments
- Background in chemical processing, energy, or other piping- and instrumentation-heavy industries
- Prior involvement in test stand build-out, commissioning, or major facility modifications
- Experience reviewing or integrating vendor-designed custom mechanical equipment
- Familiarity with hypergolic or cryogenic propellant systems
- Exposure to ASME pressure systems, mechanical integrity, or industrial safety standards
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Exposure to FEA, CFD, or thermal modeling tools
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based mechanical design work
- Regular interaction with fabrication shops, vendors, and field installation teams
- Periodic work in industrial or test environments during installation and commissioning
