PAY:

$350 / Weekly

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director of Food Service, the position primarily involves the preparation, delivery, and clean up of meals for all applicable Camp Erdman programs. The Fall Kitchen Staff position specializes in Aloha ʻĀina, focusing on waste management, conservation & restoration, and applicable learning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares and serves food under the supervision of the shift manager.
  • Is responsible for the washing of dishes and the cleaning and care of the kitchen, equipment, and dining hall.
  • Strictly follows sanitary standards set by the Hawaii State Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
  • Strictly follows sanitary standards set by the YMCA of Honolulu and Director of Food Service at Camp Erdman.
  • Willingness and ability to adhere to code of conduct and exemplify the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills/Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of standards of food preparation, serving, and kitchen procedures preferred.
  • Experience as a cook - camp or institutional food service preferred.
Education/Training:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of an approved Hawaii Food Handler course preferred.
Other:
  • Must be age 18 or older as of the start date.
  • TB Test.
BENEFITS:
  • On-site, seasonal housing provided at no cost to employees at the discretion of the Director of Food Service per separate, written agreement. Housing includes gas, electric, water, and sewer utilities at no cost. Additionally, employees staying on-site will have access to any meals that are also provided to program participants.

The YMCA requires all staff to share responsibility for preventing child abuse by upholding professional boundaries, completing mandatory Praesidium training, and reporting concerns. All candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background screening, including criminal and sex offender checks.
