Job Summary:
This is a strong opportunity for an energetic, dedicated Quality Engineer to join a quality engineering team. The role leads internal quality assurance activities for assigned customers to meet customer PPM expectations and internal quality objectives, while providing QA support for NPI projects. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with customer requirements and ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality management systems, and contributing to continuous improvement through effective use of quality tools and product inspection data. The scope of work covers internal manufacturing processes, production routing, supplier services, and raw material supplier quality.

As a Quality Engineer, You Will:

  • Develop and optimize measurement methods using CMMs, surface finish testers, and other precision inspection equipment
  • Ensure gaging and inspection methods conform to ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T requirements
  • Develop and maintain FMEAs, control plans, PPAP documentation, and process flow diagrams
  • Support APQP activities to ensure robust process controls from prototype through production
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100D, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements; support internal, customer, and third-party audits
  • Lead root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa) and implement corrective/preventive actions to reduce variation and improve Cp/Cpk
  • Interface with customers and suppliers on quality issues, corrective actions, audits, and incoming inspection improvements

Skills/Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience in precision machining, aerospace, or defense manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in FMEA, control plans, APQP, and PPAP documentation.
  • Strong metrology skills and experience with CMM programming (PC-DMIS or equivalent).
  • Solid understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100D requirements and aerospace industry quality standards.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and capability studies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Provides the technique and guidance for selecting and implementing the appropriate measuring tools for machined parts.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead problem-solving with structured methods like 8D
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent continuous improvement certification
  • Experience using Minitab or similar statistical analysis software
  • Familiarity with special processes, including NADCAP-controlled processes such as plating, heat treat, and coatings
  • Experience with ERP/MES quality modules

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
