Job Summary
The Batch Plant Manager oversees the daily operations of the concrete batch plant, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of ready-mix concrete. This role is responsible for managing plant staff, coordinating with dispatch and drivers, maintaining equipment, monitoring inventory, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities
• Production & Quality Control
o Manage batching operations to produce concrete to the required specifications.
o Monitor raw material quality, moisture levels, and mix designs.
o Coordinate with quality control personnel to ensure product consistency and compliance with standards.
• Plant Operations & Maintenance
o Oversee daily plant operations, including startup, production, and shutdown.
o Schedule and perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to minimize downtime.
o Maintain proper stockpiles and manage inventory of cement, aggregates, admixtures, and other materials.
• Staff Supervision
o Lead, train, and schedule plant employees (batch operators, loader operators, yard staff).
o Ensure drivers and dispatch receive accurate load tickets and timely service.
o Promote a culture of safety and teamwork among staff.
• Compliance & Safety
o Enforce compliance with OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and environmental regulations.
o Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and risk assessments.
o Maintain plant cleanliness and safe working conditions.
• Administration & Reporting
o Track and report production, material usage, and downtime.
o Coordinate with dispatch, sales, and management to meet customer demand.
o Control costs and optimize plant efficiency.

Qualifications
• Previous experience in ready-mix concrete production or the heavy construction materials industry.
• Strong knowledge of concrete batching operations, equipment, and quality control.
• Leadership skills with experience supervising a team.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot plant and loader issues.
• Familiarity with computerized batching systems (Command Alkon, Jonel, etc. preferred).
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to climb stairs/ladders, lift 50+ lbs, and work around heavy equipment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings or weekends, depending on demand.
