Job Description
ACET is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Aerospace Program Buyer to be responsible for procurement execution in support of DoD aerospace contracts and Aerospace Programs manufacturing operations. The Aerospace Programs Buyer supports DoD aerospace manufacturing and modification programs by executing procurement activities in compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, FAR, and DFARS requirements.
Responsibilities include processing purchase requisitions (PRs) and purchase orders (POs), negotiating with suppliers, tracking material status, and maintaining Bills of Material (BOMs) to ensure configuration control and on-time program execution. The Buyer collaborates with Procurement, Operations, Program Management, Quality, and Inventory teams to align purchasing decisions with demand, cost targets, funding constraints, and delivery schedules.
This role is responsible for supplier performance management, cost analysis, audit-ready documentation, cost-point alignment, and contract/PO closeout reconciliation. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, financial awareness, regulatory compliance discipline, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced aerospace environment. The Buyer should be analytically minded and possess excellent negotiating skills to secure the best prices according to budget and timeframe. Knowledge of sales and marketing principles is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute procurement activities in compliance with:
- AS9100D
- ISO 9001:2015
- FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation)
- DFARS (Defense FAR Supplement)
- Process Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and generate Purchase Orders (POs).
- Source and Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers
- Maintain and execute procurement in alignment with Bills of Material (BOMs).
- Track open orders to ensure on-time delivery and resolve delays.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Inventory, and Quality teams.
- Ensure materials meet required specifications and certification requirements.
- Maintain procurement documentation for traceability and audit readiness.
- Support supplier performance monitoring and corrective actions when necessary.
- Execute procurement in alignment with Bills of Material (BOMs) and configuration control requirements
- Assist with purchase order closeout and reconciliation activities.
- Perform general administrative duties related to procurement operations.
- Review and validate Purchase Requisitions (PRs) for accuracy.
- Ensure proper FAR/DFARS clause incorporation into supplier POs.
- Verify cost allowability, allocability, and reasonableness prior to PO release.
- Robust problem-solving skills to include working with vendors to find solutions for over/under shipments, over charges and lack of inventory.
- Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing to secure favorable agreements.
- Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
- Analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions.
- Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
Qualifications
- Five (5) years of experience in relevant field.
