About This Position
We are growing our training and development team and are looking for someone who isdetail-oriented, highly organized, and eager to grow within a fast-paced, operationally focused industry.
The Instructional Designer I supports the development and implementation of training programs that enhance employee performance across field operations, safety, project management, estimating, and corporate functions. This entry-level role collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs) to design engaging, practical learning solutions aligned with business objectives in a commercial roofing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Design & Development
- Assist in designing and developing instructor-led training (ILT), virtual instructor-led training (VILT), eLearning modules, job aids, and field training materials.
- Apply basic instructional design principles (e.g., ADDIE or similar frameworks) to create effective learning experiences.
- Convert technical roofing and operational content into clear, learner-friendly materials.
- Develop assessments, knowledge checks, and evaluation tools to measure learning effectiveness.
Collaboration & Needs Analysis
- Partner with field leaders, safety professionals, estimators, project managers, and operations teams to gather training requirements.
- Participate in needs assessments to identify skill gaps and performance improvement opportunities.
- Support SME interviews and content documentation.
Learning Technology & Administration
- Learn mew learning management system to upload and maintain training content within the Workday Learning Management System (LMS).
- Track training assessments, end of course survey data.
- Assist in maintaining content for version control and documentation.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Revise materials based on feedback and performance data.
- Ensure all training materials align with company branding, safety standards, and operational procedures.
- Stay current with instructional design trends and adult learning best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Communications, or a related field.
- 02 years of experience in instructional design, training development, or corporate learning (internships applicable).
- Basic knowledge of adult learning principles.
- Familiarity with authoring tools (e.g., Canva, Camtasia Studio, or similar) is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience creating new content for multiple learning modalities using instructional methods to pilot new solutions, and evaluation standards and techniques for developing workforce across the company.
- Experience working in construction, manufacturing, skilled trades, or field-based environments (preferred but not required).
- Familiarity with LMS platforms.

Work Environment
- Combination of office and occasional field/site visits.
