The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

Accurately processes medical records according to assigned job procedures with attention to ensuring the following information is correct: patient name, medical record, admission and discharge dates. Accurately files and retrieves medical records according to policy and procedure. Maintains assigned file areas in the correct alphabetical, date or terminal digit order. Demonstrates a complete knowledge of and acts appropriately regarding the following aspects of the departmental confidentiality policy: medical records do not leave the hospital except in response to a subpoena or court order, confidential information is not discussed outside the department, all requests for medical information must be made in writing with the appropriate patient authorization and the medical records must be furnished within 30 days of the request, medical records should not be given to patient care departments other than for treatment of a patient, insurance companies may only be given dates over the telephone, information may only be released over the telephone to a physician or other hospital in an emergency situation after verification of the requestor.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to fulfill the physical demands of the job
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Preferred:

  • Six months experience in a hospital setting preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem
  • Day/ Flexible/ As needed

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates complete knowledge of the computer,
  • Accesses and utilizes the available computerized information to complete job responsibilities in the most effective and efficient manner possible
  • Accurately inputs data into the computer following the proper procedures
  • Performs assigned duties efficiently and within the time frames specified
  • Maintains a consistent level of productivity, based upon the minimum standards of the job function
  • Uses work time efficiently
