Compensation: $85,000 - $115,000/ year
Position SummaryThe Senior Accountant will oversee accounting operations for 2–4 affiliated nonprofit entities with combined annual expenditures of approximately $20–30 million. This role is responsible for transaction review, account reconciliations, monthly close processes, and giving reconciliation across multiple platforms. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the transition from outsourced accounting to an in-house finance function.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transaction Review & Processing Oversight- Review and approve employee expense reports in Tallie
- Review and approve vendor bills and invoices in Bill.com
- Ensure proper coding and supporting documentation
- Monitor compliance with internal financial policies
- Perform monthly bank and other balance sheet reconciliations
- Reconcile intercompany accounts
- Reconcile unrestricted, donor restricted and board restricted fund balances
- Reconcile donations between:
- Planning Center
- Stripe
- Sage Intacct
- Investigate discrepancies
- Ensure accurate donor reporting
- Support annual contribution statements
- Prepare journal entries
- Accruals and prepaid entries
- Assist with financial statement preparation
- Maintain close calendar deadlines
- Maintain fixed asset schedules for assigned entities
- Record capital asset additions, disposals, and transfers
- Ensure proper capitalization of building improvements, equipment, and technology purchases
- Track construction-in-progress and project-related expenditures
- Record monthly depreciation entries
- Reconcile fixed asset subledger to Sage Intacct general ledger
- Assist with donor-restricted capital fund tracking
- Support audit testing related to fixed assets
- Maintain documentation for audits
- Ensure segregation of duties
- Assist with year-end audit schedules
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5–8+ years accounting experience
- Nonprofit / Fund accounting experience preferred
- Experience with Sage Intacct strongly preferred
- Muti-entity / Intercompany transaction experience preferred
- Sage Intacct, Bill.com, Tallie, Stripe, and Planning Center experience a plus
- Strong reconciliation skills
- Detail-oriented and deadline-driven
- Ability to manage multiple entities simultaneously
- Strong technical accounting and analytical skills
- Able to own an entity end-to-end
- Comfortable with high transaction volume
- Collaborative, systems-minded
- Process improvement oriented
