Job Title: Swiss and/or Lathe Machinist
Job Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:
The Swiss and/or Lathe Machinist is responsible for setting up and operate CNC Swiss and/or Lathes to produce high‑precision components. This role requires knowledge of Swiss and /or Lathe machining processes on tight tolerance work, follow processes and read prints.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up, operate, and maintain CNC Swiss and/or Lathes
• Operate CNC milling machines for secondary operations when needed
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T standards
• Install, align, and adjust tooling, collets, guide bushings, and workholding
• Perform machine offsets, tool wear adjustments, and minor G‑code edits
• Monitor production to ensure parts remain within tight tolerances
• Inspect components using micrometers, indicators, gauges, and other precision tools
• Perform changeovers efficiently to support high‑mix/low‑volume or continuous production
• Troubleshoot issues such as chip control, tool wear, surface finish, and dimensional variations
• Maintain accurate documentation of production, inspections, and maintenance
• Follow safety standards and support a clean, organized work environment
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or technical school certificate in machining or manufacturing technology
• 2+ years of experience operating CNC Swiss and/or lathes (required)
• Ability to interpret blueprints and apply GD&T
• Strong understanding of tool selection, speeds/feeds, and material machining behaviors
• Experience machining stainless steels, titanium, aluminum, or exotic alloys
• Solid mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with CAM software (Esprit, Mastercam, Fusion 360, PartMaker)
• Knowledge of multi‑axis Swiss machines with live tooling
• Experience with bar feeders, sub‑spindles, and Y‑axis operations
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles a plus
Physical Requirements:
• Able to lift up to 40 lbs regularly
• Standing for extended periods
• Manual dexterity for handling small, intricate parts
