About This Position

Position Summary

The Infusion Nurse is responsible for providing nursing services to assigned patients in accordance with the patient’s plan of care. The Infusion Nurse will be responsible for safely preparing and administering medication and providing education related to prescribed therapy regimens. The Infusion Nurse will collaborate with the internal and external prescribers to ensure safe, effective patient care with optimal outcomes.

Job Duties

  • Prepare and administer medications in accordance with the manufacturer’s prescribing information, prescriber’s orders, professional scope of practice, and laws and regulations
  • Infuse prescribed medications in our infusion suites and the home setting as needed
  • Complete clinical documentation of all patient care activities performed accurately and in a timely manner within the electronic medical record
  • Observe and monitor patient response/tolerance during all patient care activities
  • Ensure all pre-infusion requirements have been met prior to delivery of care, including clinical documentation and required legal and regulatory documents
  • Perform initial patient evaluations and assessments and develop and communicate the written plan of care/treatment plan
  • Provide initial and ongoing patient/caregiver education per organizational policy and accreditation standards
  • Counsel the patient and caregiver in meeting therapy-related goals
  • Provide appropriate patient education to patients, caregivers, and family
  • Regularly reassess the patient’s condition and nursing needs and update the plan of care/treatment plan as required
  • Evaluate and re-evaluate the patient’s need for continued services
  • Ensure ongoing care coordination with the prescribing provider for patients receiving nursing services regarding changes in patient condition and any deviations from the plan of care/treatment plan
  • Perform all activities in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and organizational policies and procedures
  • Ensure complete understanding of accreditation standard requirements and implement best practices throughout all daily activities
  • Ensure coordination of care is maintained with all applicable care team members within the organization
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance of patient care equipment per local, state, and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate competency in providing patient care in accordance with professional standards and applicable scope of practice
  • Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies
  • Report any misconduct, suspicious, or unethical activities to the Compliance Officer
  • Willing to cross train as is appropriate within RN scope of practice
  • Attend continuing education programs and staff meetings as appropriate per role
  • Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Minimum Job Qualifications, Experience, Education, and Training Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in MS

Experience: 2+ years of direct patient care experience

Certifications: Active BLS certification

Computer Skills: Proficient skill level in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word. Previous experience working with electronic medical record systems.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Must be able to accomplish any and all duties with little to no assistance.
