About This Position
About PoseidonPoseidon Aerospace is building unmanned cargo planes to dramatically lower the cost of transporting goods through the air. We have raised $11M from top venture capital firms to develop the largest cargo drones in the West. We’ve successfully tested Seagull, our quarter-scale prototype flight and are currently developing Heron (seaplane) and Egret (STOL) which will carry up to 4,000 lbs.
About The RoleUnmanned cargo planes built and operated around reducing cost per flight-ton-mile represent a 0-1 capability change in air freight operations. Unmanned operations mean that we can introduce new routes that are currently constrained by crew positioning and rest requirements. With net new economics and increased flexibility, we can operate routes that don’t work for traditional carriers, serve time-sensitive cargo at costs closer to ground transport, and unlock latent demand that currently ships through other modes. We are looking for someone who can help us concretely quantify the market opportunity provided by our unmanned platforms. If you want to help define how unmanned flight reshapes logistics, this is the role.
This is a paid summer internship with potential to convert into a full-time offer

What you’ll do
- Conduct an extremely detailed and specific investigation into the target air cargo market, focusing on current operational bottlenecks, latent demand, carrier utilization, pricing structures, regulatory environment, and competitive landscape.
- Develop robust, data-backed models for new route potential, including volume projections, operational costs, and forecasted profitability metrics.
- Become the internal subject matter expert on regional air cargo market dynamics, anticipating shifts and identifying strategic entry points.
- Translate complex market research and quantitative models into clear, compelling, and highly detailed visual presentations (e.g., market maps, demand curves, network flow diagrams).
- Collaborate directly with the leadership team to integrate market findings into the strategic roadmap and product requirements.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, ensuring a shared, data-driven understanding of how Poseidon will slot into the existing ecosystem.
- Define and track key market indicators to measure strategic progress.
What we are looking for
- First Principles Thinking: Demonstrated ability to break down complex problems into fundamental components and build logical, data-driven conclusions from the ground up.
- Analytical Rigor: Exceptional quantitative modeling, statistical analysis, and data visualization skills. Proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets is essential; experience with data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R) is a strong plus.
- Communication: Proven ability to synthesize vast amounts of information into concise, high-impact narratives and presentations for stakeholders, customers, and investors.
- Proactivity: Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment.
You ideally have
- Current enrollment in a master's or doctoral program in applied economics, industrial engineering, supply chain management, management science, statistics, other STEM field, or MBA with quantitative focus
- Prior experience in research, consulting, investment banking, private equity, strategy, or analytics roles
- A strong passion for logistics, transportation, or aerospace and a desire to profoundly reshape it
