This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development of high-performance, scalable web experiences for millions of users. You will work on cutting-edge search features, improving both the technical foundation and the user experience. The position involves solving complex architectural, performance, and scalability challenges while guiding other engineers and fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing. You will work closely with design, product, and data science teams to prototype, test, and implement innovative solutions. The role also emphasizes mentorship, technical leadership, and continuous learning to help the team build world-class frontend systems. This is a remote-eligible position within a fast-paced, impact-driven environment where technical quality and creativity are highly valued.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of performant, scalable frontend solutions for core search experiences.

  • Provide early technical feedback on the feasibility and scope of large features, collaborating closely with product and design partners.

  • Prototype and iterate on new features using data-informed approaches to optimize user experience.

  • Identify architectural improvements within the codebase and propose scalable solutions to enhance performance and reliability.

  • Deliver technical designs or implementations for foundational initiatives that enable multiple features across search surfaces.

  • Conduct code reviews and guide other engineers on best practices, fostering knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

  • Mentor team members, support their career growth, and advocate for frontend technical quality and innovation.

Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience developing large-scale web applications with significant user bases.

  • Expertise in building and maintaining consumer web applications, ideally using React, TypeScript, and GraphQL.

  • Strong understanding of frontend architecture, component design, client performance, accessibility (a11y), and styling; experience with motion and prototyping is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering teams and cross-functional partners with excellent communication skills.

  • Adaptability to changing priorities, balancing development of new product experiences with technical foundation improvements.

  • Passion for technical quality, mentoring, and driving improvements in team productivity.

  • Continuous learning mindset, keeping up with innovations in frontend development and best practices.

Benefits:
  • Base pay range: $204,000 – $255,000 USD, dependent on experience and skills.
