Position Title: Senior Strategic Communications Specialist

Position Summary
ANSER is seeking a Strategic Communications Officer to support the Department of Defense (DoD) Chief Information Officer (CIO) in advancing strategic communications and awareness across all programs within the Workforce Innovation Directorate. In this role, you will leverage digital and social media to develop messaging, support senior leader communications, and coordinate outreach to align with cyber workforce goals.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic messaging, communications strategies, and plans aligned with program goals.
  • Support preparation and maintenance of briefs, speeches, talking points, and other materials for senior leaders.
  • Identify and execute strategic outreach activities, including international and inter-agency engagement.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders on messaging, engagements, and media inquiries across DoD CIO functional areas.
  • Manage and execute speaking engagements for the CIO and principal deputy CIO, including planning and tracking.
  • Draft talking points, briefings, communication reports, and press releases.
  • Develop and coordinate responses to media inquiries in coordination with DoD offices with equities.
  • Manage and create content for social media accounts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with OSD Public Affairs, Office of General Counsel, and OSD Legislative Affairs liaisons.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of strategic communications efforts and recommend improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelors degree in a technical field (e.g., computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, physics, or similar)
  • 10 years of professional experience in strategic communications, public affairs, or related roles supporting senior leadership within federal, military, or defense organizations. Experience must include:
    • Developing and executing communication strategies and campaigns
    • Preparing briefs, speeches, and talking points for senior executives
    • Managing digital and social media platforms for organizational outreach
    • Coordinating with multiple stakeholders across government or defense agencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior experience working at the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) level
  • Advanced MS Word and PowerPoint skills; proficient in Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint development and administration
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and workloads in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage projects from conception to completion
  • Highly motivated professional with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
