CNC Machinist at Latitude Inc – Norfolk, Virginia

The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC lathes used to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. This role requires strong machining skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with tight tolerances in a manufacturing environment.

The machinist will work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure parts meet quality standards and production schedules while maintaining safe and efficient operations.

• Set up and operate CNC lathes to produce precision-machined components.
• Load materials and tooling into machines and ensure proper machine calibration.
• Monitor machining processes to maintain product quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Adjust machine offsets, feeds, and speeds as necessary to maintain production standards.
• Read and interpret G-code programs and machining instructions.
• Assist with machine setup including tool selection, work holding, and fixture installation.
• Make minor program edits or adjustments at the machine as needed.
• Verify setups through test runs and first-piece inspections.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Understand geometric tolerances, dimensions, and material requirements.
• Ensure parts meet specified tolerances and finish requirements.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of experience operating CNC machines, with a strong focus on CNC lathes.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and machining drawings.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
• Understanding of machining processes, feeds, speeds, and tooling.
