SENIOR ACCOUNTING MANAGER

The technology is currently being used for research applications in several therapeutic areas, including oncology, neurology, cardiology, inflammation and infectious disease.
ROLE SUMMARY:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Accounting Manager to join our organization. Reporting to the Director, Assistant Controller, you will provide oversight of operational accounting, accounts payable, and payroll as well as supporting the monthly & quarterly close tasks and controls. This role will provide supervisory leadership including but not limited to: recruitment, onboarding new staff, and performance management. You will work closely with our SEC Reporting & Technical Reporting, SOX Transformation, and FP&A teams, along with business partners across the organization.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
  • Manage the monthly financial close process for your areas, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, and financial report preparation.
  • Manage accounting operations including: AP, AP, consolidations, fixed assets, lease accounting, GL, payroll, and equity.
  • Responsible for the accounting reconciliation process which includes maintaining the accuracy and validity of accounting reconciliations and ensuring reconciliations are prepared and reviewed in a timely manner.
  • Support the company’s SOX compliance effectiveness and maintaining detailed control documentation.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the preparation of internal and external reporting requirements, assigned analysis, and projects.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Prepare estimates and judgements used in establishing period ending financial statement adjustments.
  • Monthly preparation of the worldwide consolidation. Ensure accurate and on time delivery of U.S. and international reporting packages and related support to the SEC Reporting team and FP&A.
  • Support the preparation / review of footnote schedules delivered to the SEC reporting team.
  • Prepare subsidiary and consolidated statements of cash flows.
  • Oversee the team’s preparation of all external audit requests throughout quarterly reviews and the annual audit.
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, and coach a team of professional accounting staff with varied experience levels.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Lean into AI and understand how it can be used to drive efficiency in a compliant manner.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Coordinate and facilitate external and internal audits, providing necessary documentation.
  • Take on additional accounting responsibilities, management of consultants, and ad-hoc projects as the role advances and the company scales.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with U.S. listed publicly traded companies.
  • 4+ years in an accounting manager role, including managerial experience.
  • 5+ years of Payroll experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance requirements, with a solid understanding of the information needed to support an SEC reporting team.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-ledger & multi-divisional accounting including intercompany accounting across a multitude of legal entities including multi-currency, and international transactions.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to make informed decisions and judgements.
  • Willingness to create business processes and assume ownership of tasks, projects, and assignments.
  • CPA / CMA license.
  • Global experience in the life sciences industry.
  • Experience with Oracle products, especially Fusion.
