About the Role:
The Physician Assistant (PA) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality healthcare services within urgent care and family medicine settings. This position involves collaborating closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. The PA will provide comprehensive patient education to empower individuals in managing their health and making informed decisions. By performing thorough patient assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing treatment plans, the PA ensures timely and effective care. Ultimately, this role aims to enhance patient outcomes and improve access to healthcare services across diverse populations in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license to practice in the United States.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Demonstrated experience or training in urgent care and family medicine clinical settings.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Additional training or certification in patient education or health coaching.
- Familiarity with state-specific healthcare regulations and insurance processes.
- Multilingual abilities to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed patient histories and physical examinations in urgent care and family medicine environments.
- Diagnose and treat common illnesses, injuries, and chronic conditions, referring patients to specialists as needed.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and imaging studies to inform clinical decisions.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications within the scope of practice.
- Provide clear and compassionate patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, preventive care, and follow-up instructions.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with medical advancements and best practices.
