What we are looking for:
Maldonado-Burkett is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Traffic Engineer to join our Dallas, Texas office, which is located at Watters Creek development in Allen at Bethany Drive and US Highway 75. We are seeking an individual with 5-10 years of experience to help deliver transportation/traffic engineering projects across the state of Texas and beyond. Licensure as a Texas Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred, but highly qualified EIT candidates will also be considered.
How you’ll make an impact at M-B as a Traffic Engineer:
The Engineer will perform engineering work in the field of transportation engineering. The work performed may include (but not be limited to) the following:
- Developing plans for Electronic Toll Collection/ITS, Traffic Control, construction sequencing, and signal timing.
- Designing Signing, Pavement Marking, and Roadway Illumination.
- Conducting traffic signal plans and traffic impact analyses.
- Performing data collection, technical report writing, and engineering studies.
- Coordinating with technical staff for timely project delivery.
- Utilizing software such as Microsoft Office, MicroStation (CAD drafting), Synchro (traffic signal timing analysis), and photometric analysis software like AGi32. Experience with VISSIM, HCS, TORUS, SIDRA, or TransCAD is beneficial.
- Depending on experience, duties may also involve project management, staff supervision, client interaction, marketing/recruitment, roundabout analysis, corridor studies, and long-range transportation planning.
- Field work and limited overnight travel (less than one day per month on average) may be required.
What it takes to be successful as a Traffic Engineer:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Licensure: Texas PE license (or ability to obtain one within six months) is preferred; EIT registration is required without a PE.
- Experience: Previous transportation design experience in consulting, specifically on TxDOT (or other DOT) or municipal projects.
- Software Proficiency: Required proficiency in MicroStation and Microsoft Office.
- Skills: Strong communication, multi-tasking, attention to detail, and a self-motivated drive for professional growth.
- Physical/Work Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, have capacity for repetitive motion (typing, bending, reaching, standing for inspections), and be willing to work extended shifts in field conditions (exposure to traffic, exhaust, and extreme weather).
Conditions of Employment:
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the Unites States without current or future employer sponsorship.
- Must be eligible for coverage under the company’s commercial auto insurance policy, which requires drivers to be 23 years or older and carry a valid TX driver’s license.
- Applicant will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Record Check. Satisfactory driving records are required for driving company or personal vehicles and motor driven equipment to conduct company business.
- Applicant must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen. Safety impact employees will be subject to additional drug and alcohol testing throughout his/her employment.
- As part of its employment process, M-B may procure or have prepared a criminal background check. An applicant with an unsatisfactory criminal background check report is ineligible to be hired for the position for which the report is initiated.
